DOCUMENTARY

The Geffrye Museum

My work placement was at the Geffrye Museum with Shaheda. On the first day we met Megan who is Manager of Education. She took us on a tour of the museum and in this museum, there are objects which show us the way of life of British families. We listened to an audioguide that gives more information about the object in different rooms. After lunch, we helped Megan to send out mails for an event at Christmas for old people. Then we communicated with Vanessa on Twitter. We took pictures for the museum website about what we liked in the museum.

The second day we filled other people's feedback about a holiday event at the museum on the computer. Then we watched Hazel give a lesson to little children from another school.

On the last day we took a tour of an Alms House, where we saw a house that had been restored from 1800. Also we searched on the Internet to find activities that other museums were doing around Christmas to compare them with the Geffrye Museum. We wanted to find out if they needed to add any events or make their tickets cheaper.

The museum changes, depending on events. They organise surveys to know the visitors’ points of view on the museum to improve it. So they take people's opinion into account. I don’t think French museums really do that.

I don't think that I'll study or work in London because my level in English is not very high. But if I improve my English, maybe I will consider studying or working there.
