Le Tanneur

We will share with you our experience at our internship in a company of fashion called Le Tanneur and Cie. We were in the 10th area of Paris.

Le Tanneur has been a well-established company since 1898, and well known throughout France. Le Tanneur is the oldest leather goods in France. The company was created by one leather and one tanner. Their first success was with a coin purse which was the first one to be seamless.

They developed one surprising know-how. They treated leather with many ways like to tanning and other but not anymore because tanning is a difficult process (not in France).

When we arrived at Le Tanneur we met Ms Gaid who was our Training Manager. She spoke to us about the history of this glorious company. After that she explained the different jobs that were in Le Tanneur. We chose five jobs and for one hour we had to look for their definition. We chose these following jobs: Nomenclature Assistant, Operating Manager, Responsible of Compliance Product, Industrial Management Controller and Forecaster.

We met the Fashion Coordinator who spoke to us about his fascinating job. Before this meeting we drew models. So we gave him our drawings. Ouardia sketching was of a computer case, Amel's sketch was a belt and Vanessa's one was a handbag. He found our drawings interesting but not perfect of course. After that, we went with Barbara who is the Head of the office of studies. She presented us her job and her workshop. And we created our "seamless". It was nice because we made a personal and unique model.

On Wednesday we spent all the morning with Philipp, Fashion Coordinator who has been one for fifty years. He gave us a class about fashion drawing. And he explained us that when you make one model you must think about all the collection. So he gave us two hours to draw. He analysed our drawing and he gave us feedback.

During the afternoon we were with Johana who is the Communication Manager. She told us all what she does in her job. She deals with speaking about Le Tanneur in the medias, during events. After that we talked about publicity and she proposed for us to create the publicity for 2015. So for the two hours thirty minutes we were given, we had to cut magazines and searched ideas for that. She saw our advertising and she appreciated it.

On Thursday we met Patrick, the Computer Scientist to ask him about his job and Barbara. This meeting enabled us to write our report.

During these three days, we learned lots of things about the working world in general and more precisely about Le Tanneur, which opened our eyes to the world of leathers goods. This experience encouraged us to continue our studies and to enlighten us about our professional projects. Thank you Le Tanneur for this fabulous experience.
