Orange

The company where I did my internship of three days with Adil and my English friend Nahin was Orange.

Orange is a mobile network operator and internet service provider. The company is located in 35 countries with 170 000 employees in the world.

Our responsible was Sylvie Barnadat, who works in the Human Resources Department. Human Resource’s jobs have to take care of recruiting, training and development and the salaries of employees.

The first day, we met a Community Manager. He has to moderate and animate the social network of the company which is named Plazza. He has to be patient and creative. There are 40 000 members in this social network and employees of Orange can talk about their hobbies, news or about projects.

The second day, we met members of the Orange Foundation. They presented us the Foundation which is mainly implanted in Africa. They help the poor population in health, education and culture. They launched a programme to help these population. They give them access to the technology of Orange. It is free for these populations and Orange doesn’t make any profit out of it.

The last day, we went in the TechnoCentre of Orange located in Chatillon. It is a place where the company makes innovation about the new technology. The first TechnoCentre was created in 2005 and we can count 18 centers in the world in France and abroad like in London, Madrid, Cairo or Tokyo.

 

For example, for mobile phones, Orange aims at helping its customers access its essential services by embedding its main applications in the mobiles bought by its customers:

 

Apps enabling easier Wi-Fi network connections, such as Orange Wi-Fi, apps optimizing customer account management, such as Orange & Me, apps making it possible to store data, such as Orange Cloud or apps for entertainment, developed to access the services offered by Orange or its partners, including Deezer, Orange TV and Ligue 1 for football.

 

These three days were very interesting for us. We learnt a lot about the world of work in an international company like Orange. We learnt that the punctuality is very important in a company because the time is always pressing and we can’t lose time. The respect between employees is important too to work in nice conditions with a good atmosphere.

Finally, we want to thank every member of Orange who welcomed us in the best conditions in the company, especially Mme Barnadat who was very kind with us.
